Solving human resource problem for the tourism industry

With many potentialities and advantages to develop tourism, together with favorable mechanisms and policies on attracting investment in this field, at present, the training and improvement of the labor quality have been considered as one of the important solutions.

Not only having advantages near Hanoi capital, in the Northern key economic region, Vinh Phuc province also has many landscapes such as Tam Dao National Park, Tam Dao resort, Dai Lai, Dam Vac and the system of historical relics... Promoting those advantages, in the past years, the province has promoted investment promotion activities for tourism development. Thanks to that, Vinh Phuc tourism has affirmed its position with strengths such as tourist resorts, conferences, tourism conferences combined with golf and spiritual tourism.

The number of tourists always keeps an average growth rate at 15-20%. In 2011, Vinh Phuc received only 1.8 million visitors; in 2016, welcomed more than 3.8 million, including more than 300 thousand international visitors.

Evaluating the quality of tourism human resource in the province, Mr. Do Hoang Duong, Head of Tourism Division, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, "In general, human resource of tourism are well trained, they are very dynamic, creative, enthusiasm...

However, in the context of international integration, currently, tourism human resource has not satisfied the developing tasks of this industry. According to survey results in the whole province until the end of December 2016, the human resources in tourism industry of the province was more than 5 thousand people, accounting for only 2.4% of the total labor force in the whole province, of which only 2 thousand direct laborers.

Not only lack of quantity, the structure of tourism human resource is not synchronous, practical capacity is limited. The knowledges of restaurant and hotel management is still limited and do not meet the development requirements of the industry.

In addition, the quality of human resource management in localities is still inadequate; labor in new business sectors, new enterprises have not been trained professionally.

In order to develop tourism sustainably and contribute to complete the assigned targets in tourism development, in the coming time, the province has plan to promote the training and development of high-quality human resource.
