The online conference of the Government on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2016

In 2 days of 6/30 and 7/1/2016, Vietnamese Government held the online conference to assess the implementation situation of socio-economic development tasks in the first 6 months of 2016, orientations and tasks in the future and comment on other important reports. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member, Prime Minister chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting, there were the Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of ministries and central agencies, provinces and cities nationwide.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tri – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Phuc province, Chairman of People's Committee chaired Vinh Phuc Bridge Point.

At Vinh Phuc Bridge Point, attending the conference, there were comrades: Nguyen Van Tri - Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of People's Committee; Nguyen Kim Khai, Provincial Commissioner, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Council; leaders of some departments and agencies of the province.

At the meeting, representative of the Planning and Investment Ministry reported the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2016, the situation of the implementation of Resolution No. 01 / NQ-CP and the guidance and administration of the Government. The Minister of Foreign Affairs reported the situation relating to the United Kingdom exiting the European Union and its impact on Vietnam.

According to the report, in the first 6 months, although the international and domestic economic situation had more movement, especially difficulties caused by natural disasters, drought, salinity intrusion ... under the resolute direction of the Government, Prime Minister, efforts of all levels and sectors, businesses and people to implement the resolutions of the National Assembly and the resolutions of the regular meetings of the Government, the socio-economic situation continued to have changes and achieved certain results. GDP growth speed was estimated to increase 5.52% in the first 6 months, lower compared than the last same period (6.32%). Consumer price index rose 2.4%. The total export turnover was estimated at USD 82.24 billion, making an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period of last year; total import turnover was estimated at USD 80.7 billion, decreasing 0.5% compared to the same period of last year. In the first 6 months, trade surplus was estimated at USD 1.54 billion, be equal to 1.9% of total export turnover. The total state budget revenue was estimated at VND 476.8 trillion, being equal to 48% of the estimate, increasing 6.1% compared to the same period; the total State budget expenditure was estimated at VND 562.5 trillion, being equal to 44.2% of the yearly estimate, developing 4.9% compared to the same period of last year; creating jobs for 762 thousand people; the inflation continued being controlled, ensuring the stability of domestic market and macro economy; monetary policy and finance were closely and flexibly operated. The social welfare policy was well implemented; the legal system continued to be improved; the diplomacy, defense and security were enhanced.

However, the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months still faced to many difficulties and challenges. The economy recovered slowly, the growth rate of the first 6 months was lower compared to the same period of the previous year. The event of the United Kingdom exiting the European Union had certain influence on the stock market, gold price and foreign currencies. Stock index fell down while gold price rose to 3 - 3.5%. The pollution prevention and ecological environment protection were still weak ...

At the conference, some local leaders reported the implementation of socio-economic tasks and proposing measures to well implement the tasks of socio-economic development in the last 6 months of 2016.

In 7/1, the conference continued discussing and making ideas on the report of the socio-economic implementation in the first 6 months and other important contents.
